Passion, Motivation and Consistency: Companions on the Journey to Greatness

If you investigate the life of the 'successful people' around you, you'll discover 'all' of these three things about them: Passion, Motivation and Consistency.

A brief insight into these three qualities will tell us how they use them.

The Role of Passion

You've probably gotten used to the phrase - 'have Passion.'

The truth is you've got to have passion for whatever you set your mind to do.

What Passion actually does is that it sets us on the path. It tells us what we should do.

Many people stop at passion. They can see the track before them but don't seem to begin the journey.

This is where Passion hands over the baton to Motivation.

The role of Motivation

We usually use words like -

-I have passion for writing but there are so many writers out there.
-I know within me that I can influence people with by words but I don't seem to have the courage.
-I've got business ideas but I’m too
old/too young/too inexperienced to experiment them.

Whatever the passion you have, Motivation deals with the self doubts that comes with passion. Motivation tells you - you can do what you should do.

There may be many writers out there but you can make a difference with your writing. You may lack the courage and confidence to speak now but you can develop these attributes. You may be too young or too old or too inexperienced buts it's never too late to start what is important to you.

Motivation takes away the barriers that might be an hindrance to the actualization of your passion.

But the challenge is - Motivation fades away. There would be times when you'll feel uninspired or  unmotivated. This is because motivation is like a muscle and it can get fatigued when you use it over and over again. This clearly explains the reason we procrastinate.

This is where Motivation gives way for Consistency.

The Role of Consistency

It can be tempting to think those who are successful have unstoppable passion and motivation that drives them 24 hours, 7 days a week.

The truth is they feel the same boredom and the same lack of motivation that everyone else feels. They don’t have magic pills that makes them feel inspired or motivated every day. The difference is that they set a schedule for what is important to them and stick to it. They could be motivated occasionally but they don't rely on motivation to drive them to work. They are consistent enough to work through the boredom, and to follow through on their passion.

They simply focus on the system for achieving their goals.

What Next

We all desire success (I'll be surprised if you don't) and the key is passion, motivation and consistency.
At some point in your journey, you'd need one of them. Be sure to use them.

Preparation - The key to unlocking Opportunities.

Many wake up every morning, with no priority in mind. They rush into situations without plans and preparations. They don't see life really as a big deal for which they should adequately prepare for. They take preparation as worry and as a result believe as life unfolds, it would figure out itself. Paradoxically, life is all about preparation. Successful people always prepare for whatever venture they embark on. One of America's foremost President, Abraham Lincoln, said, "If I had eight hours to chop down a tree,  I'd spend six hours sharpening my axe" Why Many Skip Preparation Many youngsters see preparation as time consuming and as no progress at all. Unlike Abraham Lincoln, We'd begin cutting down the tree right away. Sharpening the axe for six good hours might seem a waste of precious time. But the repercussion would be discouragement along the way; frustration and exhaustion few hours into cutting down the tree. What many call Preparation Many peop...

Whatever the definition you give to success, Success is simply accomplishing your set goals and objectives.
