What you say to your self has more impact on you than you can imagine. What limiting beliefs held you back in the previous year? Do you still carry those same beliefs into the new year? You need to watch it and deliberately stop that conversation roaming in your mind. 2. Never ever compare yourself with anyone. Thanks to social media, it helps you see how well you compare with others. Whichever way you look at it, comparing yourself with others will have a negative effect on your both emotionally and psychologically. You need to clear your mind and clear your compass. The Key to Learning Fast - The Only Secret You Need to Know

Learning is an important aspect of life. It is a non-negotiable for anyone who wants to stay on top in their personal life and career. We all have the capacity to learn and improve, but many are yet to unlock the potential to learning well, as well as fast.  My Learning Experience Just last week, I was asked to prepare an Excel sheet to size some cables for some engineering project. After preparing the Excel sheet, the senior engineers were wowed! This was beyond their expectation! How did I prepare something that excellent, that could automatically calculate the size and give dynamic recommendation for the selection of any cable!  Was it something amazing to them? Yes. Was it anything special to me? Definitely not.  Two months prior, I new next to nothing on Excel. I didn't even know how to use the SUM function. During an intensive training programme, an external facilitator had trained us on Basics, Intermediate and Advanced Excel. This training was within a space of on...

Why You Should Not Throw Your Life Away

Life is precious. We only live life once. The way we spend our lives is dependent on how much we value life. At times, we do not recognize or appreciate what we have until we lose it. Experiences in life are rare. Treasure them and make the most of every waking moment of yours. We will not always live here forever, therefore, make every moment of your life count. Three Reasons You Should Not Throw Your Life Away 1. We need to always remind ourselves that there is just one of us existing now in the universe. You are a unique individual with a unique mindset having unique abilities. You are you and there is none other. If you forget this, you will throw you life away. Your family needs you. Your parents, siblings or relatives are probably going through challenges only you can provide solution to. If you close your eyes to their needs, you are wasting your life and would feel incomplete. 2. Your community needs you. No one cares about you until they know how much you care about them. I...

The Secret to Success: Focus

What success may mean to one may be different from what success may mean to someone else. For an ex- student, success may mean gaining admission into a tertiary institution, while for a college student, it may mean getting a grade point sufficient enough to earn a first class or maintain a currently high CGPA. For a parent, it may mean giving her Children sound scriptural training in the way of the Lord. Success may also mean living a balanced Christian life; living a fulfilled stress - free life, or acquiring a skill for an independent financially self sufficient future life. Whatever the definition you give to success, Success is simply accomplishing your set goals and objectives. As wonderful and as necessary it is to succeed in life, it is important to note that there are innumerable distractions to success. An Eagle with a keen vision There are a lot of reasons why people don't succeed. The reason is they are often distracted by ephemeral things. This shifts their ...

Being at the top is all about climbing to the top, and as long as you keep climbing, you're already there - at the top! Here is the well of wisdom we want to draw out from: Proverbs 18:1-2 KJV Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. [2] A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. Desire is what sets the ball rolling. Desire is what puts the individual on the move. Desire is passion and decision put together. Life happens to everyone and majority of what happens to us in life tend to water down or kill our passion for life. Only desire can resurrect that passion - an active, lively desire. ...

Keep a Journal; Make your Autobiography; Write a book.

Proverbs 10:14 KJV "Wise men lay up knowledge:..." The word "lay up" means to store. Simply put,  it means to document. Many people do not understand the importance of storing information. It is good practise for Wise men to lay up knowledge. Why it is Important to Lay Up Knowledge A tour into the life of historical and contemporary successful men shows that these men have a library of books. A foremost example is Dr. Ben Carson. Ben's life was transformed as a result of his mother's firm decision to make him not only to consume the knowledge in books but to reflect by writing down weekly reports of those books read. His mother took this firm decision as a result of what she discovered in the apartment of a wise old man for whom she was an house cleaner - a library of books. She was shocked to discover this old man owned these books and often read them. She was challenged and therefore compelled her boys to not only for read books but also to write a we...

Proverbs I mean - not tribal sayings but the book of Proverbs written by King Solomon himself. It's a well of wisdom. Many people are just not patient enough to draw from this well. Preparation - The key to unlocking Opportunities.

Many wake up every morning, with no priority in mind. They rush into situations without plans and preparations. They don't see life really as a big deal for which they should adequately prepare for. They take preparation as worry and as a result believe as life unfolds, it would figure out itself. Paradoxically, life is all about preparation. Successful people always prepare for whatever venture they embark on. One of America's foremost President, Abraham Lincoln, said, "If I had eight hours to chop down a tree,  I'd spend six hours sharpening my axe" Why Many Skip Preparation Many youngsters see preparation as time consuming and as no progress at all. Unlike Abraham Lincoln, We'd begin cutting down the tree right away. Sharpening the axe for six good hours might seem a waste of precious time. But the repercussion would be discouragement along the way; frustration and exhaustion few hours into cutting down the tree. What many call Preparation Many peop...

If You Can't Speak, Write

So many talents and skills exist in our universe. A number of them are mathematical skills, clear reasoning skills, ability to solve problems,  Problem Solving, Adaptability Collaboration, Strong Work Ethic, Time Management, Critical Thinking Self-Confidence, Handling Pressure, Leadership, Creativity. We are all bundles of talents and skills. Our abilities makes us who we we really are. Of all the abilities that exist, there are only two abilities that stands out uniquely. They are speaking and writing. As humans, we have convictions, what we believe and what we stand for. The only way we can push forward our beliefs to others is to express them verbally or nonverbal. The only means is by the use of words. Whether you're composing a song or writing a poem, or preparing a speech, or talking to a friend, you need the use of words to express yourself. We all have words inside of us. If you therefore cannot speak, you can write.

The Action Word 'do'

We all have goals, desires and dreams that we want to achieve in our lives. Whatever it is, there is only one word that can bring our dreams to reality. That word is 'do'. It does not matter what you want to become. What matters is the decisions you make, the actions you take, what you do to become what you desire to be. We are defined not by what we know or say but by what we do. A writer writes, a student studies, a teacher teaches, a singer sings, a worker works, a driver drives, a dancer dances, a drummer drums, a speaker speaks, a preacher preaches, etc. It can be tricky to assume that the gap between where you are now and where you want to be in the future is as a result of lack of knowledge. We believe that a new result require new knowledge. I agree with you.  But what I'm beginning to realize now is that we use learning as a cloak to avoid taking action on the goals that are important to us. We know so much that we do so less. We acquire so much knowledge da...

The Purpose of the Calendar

Have you ever imagined a world without a calendar? (surprisingly, I have. It's a strange world to live in) Luckily for us, we have a calendar. I can look up the correct date, meet up with appointments and deadlines, and so on. Whichever way we use the calendar, There is only one truth about them. They help us measure. If you must succeed, then you need to embrace your calendar. But the calendar is more than just numbers. There are repetitive patterns in them. Patterns that reveal their purposes and patterns we can learn from. Let's look at those repetitive patterns and how it applies to our daily lives. Pattern Number One: There are 365 days in a year. We do not have different names for each day. Unfortunately, there are only seven names to go round. Seven names not sufficient for 365 days. The only strategy the calendar could adopt is to repeat each names 52 times. Purpose Number One: The calendar intends that we repeatedly perform certain behaviors on Mondays, Tues...

The Slow Forward Match to Greatness

We all have goals that we’d like to reach. And, if we had the choice, we would prefer to reach them sooner rather than later. We want to get results now. We want to make plans, pursue them and achieve immediate results. My experience teaching younger children has taught me some life lessons. First, the power of patience. Second, the power of repetition. Third, the power of learning by portion. Esther is a little girl I teach. She's active and ready to learn but easily distracted. She was yet to master the use of letters to form words. Words that rhyme. My goal for her was to make her master two-lettered words in one week, three-lettered words in the second week, four-lettered words in the third week. All in three weeks. By the fourth week, she would begin to read texts written from two letters to four letters. I set these goals in high spirits. I thought within myself:  If I can achieve this - I'll count myself an effective teacher, besides her parents would be impressed th...

Passion, Motivation and Consistency: Companions on the Journey to Greatness

If you investigate the life of the 'successful people' around you, you'll discover ' all' of these three things about them : Passion, Motivation and Consistency. A brief insight into these three qualities will tell us how they use them. The Role of Passion You've probably gotten used to the phrase - 'have Passion.' The truth is you've got to have passion for whatever you set your mind to do. What Passion actually does is that it sets us on the path. It tells us what we should do. Many people stop at passion. They can see the track before them but don't seem to begin the journey. This is where Passion hands over the baton to Motivation. The role of Motivation We usually use words like - -I have passion for writing but there are so many writers out there. -I know within me that I can influence people with by words but I don't seem to have the courage. -I've got business ideas but I’m too old/too young/too inexperienced to exp...

Lets get started: The Purpose of this blog

Let's be frank, I've known about blogging a long time ago. Around 2012, I'd been very passionate about owning a blog or a website. I posted my first article September 30, 2016. Why such big gap between when I had the idea of owning a blog and when I actually started blogging? Not just blogging; I've also experienced  this kind of scenario in other areas of my life. I've taken time to reflect about this and below are the few reasons I was able to map out. Connecting With  Others As a result of my upbringing, I've learnt to do things on my own. Although I've built a life of confidence and grit in what I do, ( at least to some extent ), I've come to discover that productive  team work is inevitable. This has to do with connecting with the right set of people. As regards owning a blog, I remember spending all night trying to create one. I eventually became frustrated because I just didn't understand how to go about it. I recall thinking perhaps I h...
